Ok so i got this idea tonight to grill my hamburger for the spaghetti i was making, I took about 3 or 4 pounds of hamburger and shaped it into hamburger patties (I did this cause it cooks the quickest and gives that great char taste that you get more of with direct heat) So before that i seasoned it with some thyme ect (mcormicks italian seasoning) and a little bit of garlic powder. Then i grilled them up and cut them in little square pieces, Boiled my 2 packs of noodles and coated my pot with my spaghetti sause (Ragu with garlic onions ect) threw the meat in there and added some mushrooms (Im debating on grilling up some mushrooms also next time) Simmered that for a few minutes and strained my noodles then threw those in and more sause (about 2 and a half jars all togather, Seasoned up everything with more of the mcormick italian seasoning, Garlic powder and a little bit of salt and pepper. The end result? AMAZING, The grilled flavor of the meat just sets it off so much more then the traditional pan frying. I didn't take a pic of the spaghetti but i did of the hamburger patties. As you can see they have the great char marks from my Weber:

Awesome! I too have done this!
Next time try grilling all of your veggies too!
I use a ragu thick garden sauce as my base.. then I grill burgers, green peppers, onions and mushrooms on the grill. Chop them up after and toss them in the sauce. Mix with some fresh sauted garlic and it is out of this world amazing!
You are really mixing it up! Have you cooked breakfast on the grill yet?

Sounds good Sharky! I haven't cooked breakfast on the weber yet but i did on the old grill, I used to put eggs in those foil pans and make scrambled eggs and throw my bacon right on the grate, Its definatly the best eggs and bacon ive had. Whats your method of cooking breakfast on the grill?
You might want to try a few wood chips on the coals when grilling those burgers. Makes them taste even better. Maybe some Italian sausage in there would be good too.

Well i called Weber today, They say to soak woodchips in water for 30 min or so then roll in aluminum foil and put holes in then set it on the flavorizor bars. Tryed tonight with some woodchip things and the chicken was awsome but the ones i have aren't as good as just regular woodchips they are kind of grinded up wood. Hickory smoked chicken + Squeezed lemon juice and lemon pepper seasoning = AMAZING!

awesome!
Sounds great! The aluminum foil trick works every time!
Looks like youve found the answer. A couple sheets of heavy duty foil and a fist full of chips. I have noticed the grocery stores around here are starting to carry the wood pellets, sawdust packed into what looks like little cylinders. They say you can use them like the chips, but Ive never used them. There is a whole line of dedicated smokers that use the pellets exclusively. When I want chips I just go to the grocery store. All I can ever find there are mesquite and hickory chips....maybe its the area of the country I live in, South Carolina.
I bought a cast iron chip tray from Lowes/Home Depot just sit it on the burner and throw in some chips, that I used on my gas grill. Now that I mostly use charcoal, I just use wood chunks directly on the coals.

I made a couple of extra burger last weekend with the italian seasoning and what not. They made excellent spaghetti. We told some friends and they are going to try it sometime also.
I like being able to grill some extras for later meals. It's a shame to smother hot coals after heating up the grill to cook lunch for two.

I'm not big on red meat so something that I have tried before is grilling chicken along with some fresh vegetables from out of my garden. I then cooked up some fetuccini noodles, tossed it all together and topped it off with some alfredo sauce. Walla! We had a DELICIOUS fetuccini dinner that night!
I have used chicken in regular tomato sauce before with spaghetti. I was pretty good, not as heavy as hamburger. Alfredo sauce is good too....making me hungry and I just ate lunch!

I tried it this past weekend and it actually turned out really good. It actually tasted even better than I thought it would.
