Has anyone used the Sear Burner on the new Kenmore Elites at Sears? If so, how are you using it - 1. To sear then throw on grill to cook the rest or 2. To completely cook steaks.

It looks like a nice feature, but I get fantastic results by getting my grill up over 600 degrees then turning it down to about 500 to finish cooking. Plus, I use the side burner a good bit. Any feedback is appreciated.

We bought a Sears gas grill w/a sear burner, and it went back to Sears in two days after using it....the grill "plates" were porceline coated. With the first use the coating was bubbling off and making for crunchy steaks & burgers

The return process was a bigger disappointment when they wanted to charge us a "restocking" fee! It'll be a fair guess that we will not be making future purchases at our local Sears store!!

Okay,

So, to answer my question, was it a Sear Burner on the New Elite line or did you buy a middle of the road unit from Kenmore? We would then be talking apples and apples. No need to slander the entire line with bad information.
