Thought I would let you know, I just bought an 18lb bag of Mesquite Wood Chunks from Home Depot. Cost $9.98. Not bad for my area - West Michigan. No Mesquite trees in this back yard. Lots of Cherry and Apple though.

I'm not overly fond of mesquite, just a personal dislike I guess. One of my favorites is Sugar Maple.
I recently got a 10 lb box of guava wood from Hawaii to try. I never tried it before, but had good reports of it from another forum. It was extremely reasonable, came packed in a USPS Priority mail box as full as could be.
$15 including shipping. Can't beat that.

Yeah, chicken, fish, & pork... I don't care for sweet woods with beef. Strickly oak and touch of hickory for me, maybe pecan.
Actually after a long smoking session, I don't taste much of the flavor of smoke, 'cause I've got a nose full of smoke, and hair full of smoke, and clothes full of smoke. Now the next day... that's when I can appreciate the different subtleties of the smoke woods.
