I used to go nuts ordering spices on the 'net or the local grocery stores. Nuts and broke.

I found a store in St. Pete called Smart and Final. They are a national restaurant supply chain where anyone can shop. They aren't a typical warehouse outfit, but they aren't fancy either.

Anyway, you can purchase 16 oz containers of almost any spice you need for around $4 - $5. These is the same spices that most of the restaurants in the area sell. Take paprika for example: you could buy one of those 1/2 ounce jars at Publix for $2.79. Or 16 ounces for $4.69 at Smart and Final.

Smart and Final recently sold all their Florida locations to an outfit called Gordon Food Service. They still sell the same stuff, just the name on the door has changed. No membership fees, either.

There are 2 Gordon Food Service stores in Pinellas Co.:

3131 4th St. N.
St. Petersburg

or

1661 Gulf to Bay
Clearwater

Even if you have to come across the Bay, it is well worth the trip. I guarantee you you'll come away with lots more than spices. :)
