The first official day of Summer and time and money are running out...we first had our eyes set for a Nexgrill SS 3 burner but after learning a bit more from y'all we got a little nervous and started looking at the Weber grills you all recommended...but....we just aren't ready to invest that much cash-ola this year...ya know, other homeowner priorities come first this year, and our clunky Sunbeam is on it's last legs!!
So if y'all were going to recommend a grill around the $200.00 to $300.00 market price range what would you suggest for a gas grill that will get us through a good couple of summers at best til we are ready to invest in the best??

Mingo,
Instead of investing in a cheapo gasser that you'll probably toss out, why not take your $200-$300 and invest in a decent charcoal grill that'll last you for years? Then when you're ready for the gasser, you'll have the best of both worlds. If you get a good charcoal chimney, starting up the charcoal is a snap.
I know that gas is more convenient for weeknights, etc. but charcoal does improve the flavor of what you're cookin'.
I use charcoal more than gas, but I do like the convenience of gas too.
Lots of choices in Charcoal for under $300:
Weber 22-1/2"Gold One-Touch: about $139 free shipping from Amazon
Weber Rotisserie: $99 free shipping from Amazon (very nice accessory)
For $299 I think you can even get the Weber Platinum/Performer with Gas Assist start-up
For $169 you can get a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker that doubles as a small grill (18-1/2"). If you like real BBQ, you'll keep the WSM around a long time. If I could only have one outdoor cooking appliance, this would be it.
Anyway, just something to think about. If you were anywhere near Tampa, I'd sell ya my new Weber Silver One-Touch for $50. Still in the box and can't get rid of it.

Oh yeah,
I almost forgot. The Weber Q and Baby Q are very good grills. I have the Baby Q. I think it was around $129 and it's ample size for me. I got the roller bag, the adapter hose for a regular propane tank, and the griddle accessory. If you need more cookin' space, check out the full-size Q. You'd be surprised at the capacity. I think the full-sized Q is about $179. Check Amazon. They have free shipping. Home Depot usually stocks them so you can check it out in person before buying. Maybe Ace Hardware too.
In case you haven't noticed, I like Weber :)
My latest Weber is a limited edition 10th anniversary Homer Simpson Smokey Joe table top grill. Don't see this one ever getting used, but you never know.

I almost feel foolish for dumping all that money on a gasser, then figuring out I like the taste of charcoal better. I also think it's more fun to cook this way.
StPete is right! Just get yourself a charcoal grill, along with a chimney, and have fun and flavor. I'm using my brother's kettle that he abandoned since he got his gas grill. I think the thing that annoys most of us is getting the fire going in these things. However, if you invest in a charcoal chimney, this hassle goes away. I can't tell you how much I enjoy using this thing. It takes a little more time and energy than a gasser, but the results are well worth it. I use my LP grill if I don't have time.

Well if you have $300 why don't you buy the best of both worlds:
buy the Weber 22-1/2"Gold One-Touch: about $139 free shipping from Amazon
and the baby q for around $129. That would put you at $268 leaving you $32 for accessories. I would go with the adapter hose.
That is pretty close to my set up and it works out great.
