I've got a pretty good collection of cookbooks starting with one my Grandma had and passed along to me.

My two most recent acquisitions are going to be two of my favorites I can already tell.

First, for grillin': Weber's Real Grilling. Over 200 recipes complete with pictures and how-to's. Most of the recipes in this book are straight forward and won't send you to some obscure out-of-the-way market to purchase an ingredient you never heard of before.

There's a section on rubs, and not just recipes, but the different categories of rub ingredients and how they complement each other and what each brings out in food. Very informative. Excellent for making your own signature rub if you're so inclined.

Second, DR. BBQ's Big-Time Barbeque Cookbook, by Ray Lampe, aka Dr. BBQ. Ray is from right over in Lakeland, FL. This is his first book. There are almost 300 pages of recipes, techniques, and stories about barbeque. And here's the best thing: Ray Lampe is the real deal. He's not some TV chef who never gets his hands dirty or spends his time judging some Reality show. He's been there, and he's done it just like regular folks.

And this isn't just about BBQ. There are grillin' recipes and recipes for leftovers and side dishes. This is a great book to have in your kitchen.

And here's the best part about these books: I picked them both up from Amazon for a total of $28 with free shipping. Can't beat that.

I have the DR. BBQ's Big-Time Barbeque Cookbook proof copy. It has some pages that say "remove 4 sentences for page length" and "photo here", etc., but all the recipes seem great. And I love the way he writes his stuff. Straight forward.

Is there a book dedicate to smokers ?
Grilling I've done and have a couple of good books, but they don't goo too much into
smoking like I wish they would.
Thanks !

I don't know how I missed this thread before, but...I got to hang out with Ray one afternoon and enjoy some of his grilling (well technically it was Egging). His book will be the next one I pick up. He is a good guy and it is great to see that his book is so well received.

BTW if you have the Outdoor Life Network (OLN) they have a BBQ Competition show that Ray is taking part in, so far he has won on both of the episodes that he appeared on.

I went to Barnes & Nobel book store in Duluth & picked up "SMOKE & SPICE"
and "WEBER'S BIG BOOK OF GRILING" All I can say is WOW !,what great
ideas & good stuff in them. They also have many other books available, but I
will have to budget myself on these as I don't really need 50 cook books.
THANKS for the tips guys !

Duke,
another book about bbq/smoking is Peace, Love & Barbecue. I just finished it up and it is a good read. It basically tells the different styles of bbq across the country. It talks about the legends, comps and different types of bbq. It gives some good recipes and some great tips.

Deuce & Friends;
Thanks ! for the tips. The book you suggested will be on my Xmas list...

Is there a book out there of just BBQ smokers & grills ? I saw a picture of a guy
using an old refrig. and a couple of super fortress pits, it would be interesting as
it could contain the most high end "pro" to the most "redneck" pit. Mine is painted
red for that reason.
Thanks !
