I've got a pretty good collection of cookbooks starting with one my Grandma had and passed along to me.
My two most recent acquisitions are going to be two of my favorites I can already tell.
First, for grillin': Weber's Real Grilling. Over 200 recipes complete with pictures and how-to's. Most of the recipes in this book are straight forward and won't send you to some obscure out-of-the-way market to purchase an ingredient you never heard of before.
There's a section on rubs, and not just recipes, but the different categories of rub ingredients and how they complement each other and what each brings out in food. Very informative. Excellent for making your own signature rub if you're so inclined.
Second, DR. BBQ's Big-Time Barbeque Cookbook, by Ray Lampe, aka Dr. BBQ. Ray is from right over in Lakeland, FL. This is his first book. There are almost 300 pages of recipes, techniques, and stories about barbeque. And here's the best thing: Ray Lampe is the real deal. He's not some TV chef who never gets his hands dirty or spends his time judging some Reality show. He's been there, and he's done it just like regular folks.
And this isn't just about BBQ. There are grillin' recipes and recipes for leftovers and side dishes. This is a great book to have in your kitchen.
And here's the best part about these books: I picked them both up from Amazon for a total of $28 with free shipping. Can't beat that.
