Has anyone ever gone to a brewery, taken a brewing class there and brew and bottle the beer there? We have a local brewery www.shenandoahbrewing.com, that you pay anywhere from $90-$150 for the class and to brew and bottle 5 cases of beer. Me and a buddy are gonna do this, but I'd like to hear everyones thoughts if they've done it before.

Hmm...that's pretty cool, never heard of anything like it before, just don't screw up your beer and get stuck with 5 cases of crap beer. ;)

BTW I wouldn't really consider Alexandria part of "Shenandoah", but it is pretty cool to have a brewery in the area. I would definatly check it out if I still lived up there.

The closest I have come to that is touring the budweiser plant in merrimac NH and drinking the two free ones after the tour. :) Ok, I drank three cause my wife only wanted one of hers... ;)
That does sound like something neat to do. Have fun.

Sean you're right, Alexandria is no where near the Shenandoah Valley! I am planning on doing alot of "sampling" before I create my masterpiece brew, so I don't get stuck with a bunch of garbage! We have another brewery out here, not sure if they offer the same class, but its http://www.olddominion.com/old_dom_home.html. I've had lunch at this one, and had the beer sampler, I think it was 6 4oz glasses of different beers.

Deuce, I've toured the Anheuser Busch plant in Busch Gardens......Great Time!!!! When you drive by the plant you can smell the yeast! It's awesome!

Now that is really weird to see... I grew up in Ashburn, and it is still a little hard to get used to all of the growth that has gone on there in the last 15 years or so. When I left there ten years ago they had built a bunch of houses there, but there had not been a lot of comercial development...

Sean, you would not even recognize that area now if you haven't been here in a number of years! It's unbelievable! Very very very over populated though!

A lady I used to work has a brother that lives in Leesburg. She went to see him a couple of years ago and was telling me that Rt 7 is built just about the whole way between Sterling and Leesburg...I don't even want to think about what the traffic is like. My parents moved down to southwest VA about 15 years ago because it was taking my Dad almost an hour to make a 10 mile commute from Sterling to Reston...

TRAFFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I have a 120mile round trip commute everyday. I leave my house at 4:30am and get to work between 5:50 & 6:00. I leave work at 2:30pm and get home anywhere from 4:30 - 5:30. Ri freaking diculous commuting around here and they just keep building!
