Yep, believe it or not I think I'm going to make the change to a store bought deck size grill. I have my big mobile grill, no problems. I also have a grill I built in 1986 that does well but I mainly use it for overnite cooking things like briskets or deer hind quarters. My other grill is a store bought Char Broil gas grill that doesn't hold up too well as far as the burners go.
Anyway to make a long request short, from what I've read on here, Weber seems to be the favorite. I kinda like the Platinum model. I would love one of those at Sams but it is about $1000.00 and I just can't justify that. So any recommendations you guys can give will be appreciated!

Check out your local WalMart. I bought a Stainless Steel Brinkmann Pro Series 2600 with a side burner, two years ago for $299. It is by far the best grill I've ever owned and have not had to replace a thing on it. In my opinion it is just as good or better than a comparible Weber and a much cheaper price. It is a very well built and sturdy grill, and weighs in at a whopping 200lbs. So the quality is definitely there.

Grillmaster,

Please let me save you some expense. I LOVE Weber grills. The Platinum models are NOT worth the money at all. The main difference in the '05 models vs. '04 is the doors on the front. But you can get these on the Silver Series as well. The temperature knob is in the center of the hood instead of the side.....another change. Now let me drop some knowledge and some questions on you:

- Weber raised the prices on the Gold Series $100 over '04
- Platinum Series is another $100 over that ($50 in some places)
- Why did Weber bother putting SS plates on the side shelves?
- SS is soft and scratches easily...............this makes the sides basically non-functional.
- The Platinum looks nice with all the SS on the front and body, but has absolutely no advantage over the Gold Series.
- Why did Weber not add the rotisserie burner for the Platinum Series....or a smoker box?

Anyway, I have purchased many Gold Series Webers and I would see no reason to step up and buy the Platinum....it is all smoke and mirrors for a big tag. If the doors don't mean anything to you......try to find an '04 Gold. I just bought one for $475 cash.

Hope this helps.

I got the Member's Mark from Sam's (http://www.komar.org/bbq/) a few years ago and LOVE it. My comparison to the Costco Virco (another fine grill) is a bit dated, but both Costco and Sam's have pretty darn decent looking stainless grills for quite a bit under a $1,000 - heck of a bang for the buck IMHO ...

HULKSTER,

At our local Lowes in Pitt, they have the '04 60,000BTU units on Clearance for $877. They have 5 left and that grill is identical (except for 1 side burner) as the Grand Classic. They have the doors in a different place, but it is the same grill....VERY NICE for the price......
