Because the recipe scanned a little blurry, I'll re-type it here:

1905 Salad

1/2 head iceberg lettuce
2 tomatoes, diced
1 celery stalk, diced
3 oz Swiss Cheese, julienned
3 oz ham, julienned
1/4 cup pitted Spanish Olives
2 tablespoons Romano Cheese

Dressing

4 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon Oregano
1 teaspoon Worchestershire Sauce
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 cup olive oil (EVOO)
1/8 cup white vinegar
salt and pepper

Method

Arrange salad ingredients in serving bowl or individual salad plates. To prepare the dressing, mince garlic and put in a bowl. Add oregano, Worchestershire sauce and lemon juice. Beat with a wire wisk until smooth. Add the oil gradually and finally add the vinegar, beating continuously. Add salt and pepper to taste. When well-mixed, pour dressing over salad and toss.

Serves 4 dinner salads or 2 main entrees.

Yup. I can see it.

It looks good. Have you tried it? My wife and I are on a salad kick to start the new year so this will fit in nicely.

Thanks.

I make this all the time... it's my favorite salad. It make a great meal salad. After making it for a lot of years, I sometimes tweak the recipe... more ham, more cheese, parmesan instead of romano, but the dressing I always leave alone.

By the way, I just noticed that the amount of vinegar is a little fuzzy... It is 1/8 cup.

The recipe can be doubled also. It's great with garlic bread...

Awesome StPete!

I wonder why they don't do that anymore?

'cause today they are selling their cookbooks at the restaurants... :(

When I find the Spanish Bean Soup recipe, I'll post that also. Those were the only two I got. If I remember correctly, they girl I was livin' with at the time got custody of the Spanish Bean Soup recipe... and I got the 1905 Salad.

I remember going to the Columbia back when I lived in Tampa. The most I remember about it were the dancers stomping around :)
But I left there when I was 15...WAY back in 1981, so I cant really say much about the food. But having dancers in the restaurant wasnt your everyday thing :D
