Berns Steakhouse
Tampa, FL

Going to Berns is not just about the food. It's about the atmosphere and experience. You walk in Berns and it's very gaudy, the waiting area chairs are actually throans fit for a King! Berns boasts one of the largest wine collections in all of Florida and is happy to give you a tour of their whole facility.

Now, down to business. Their menu allows you to order Steak, Buffalo, Osstrich, chinken or Fish. It's HUGE. Their cuts of meat range from a 1/2" to an amazing 3" thick (if memory serves me right!). I ordered their fillet once and their ribeye several times, being happy -- but not excited -- about the flavor! I would rate their steak a 3.5 out of 5 stars, while I would rate the experience a 4.5 out of 5!

If you hit Berns, do not miss their Dessert room! It's a 5 out of 5 for experience and great taste!

well...."Quaffable but not transendent"
;)

MikeAI, Katie, Sue, me, went to Bern's. Steak House in Tampa.
Our first bottle was 1997 Swanson Merlot, and after finishing it with about 1 inch left on the bottom, we ordered the second one.
When the waiter opened it, I tried it and...it was oxydized...slightly. but...still far from the first bottle we had.
I complained. The waiter instead of just replace the bottle, went on the whole procedure calling sommelier, which took 10 mins to appear and sommelier tried it and pronounced that "nothing is wrong with the wine"
I am not easy to intimidate type and I offered him the taste of the first bottle for comparission. He tried it and pronounced....yeah, the first bottle is "more frutier", but nothing is wrong with the second bottle.
He couldn't answer my question WHY 2 bottles of the same vintage of the same winery taste so much different if nothing is wrong with the second bottle.
Needless to say,
we didn't drink it, he had to bring Joseph Phelps 1997 instead and all his commotion resulted in him kicking himself out of extra tips...
and I'd rather do it over and over again than drink the wine which is not to par.
