My dad got one of the big 64,000 BTU , 3-burner Jenn Air grills from Lowes for Christmas. I took a look at it today and must say I was impressed. It seems to be built just as well as my Dynasty, and was only a fraction of the price.
Does anyone here have experience with Jenn Air? How is their service/support/overall quality?

I just picked up the 60,000 BTU 7 burner SS Jenn-Air at Lowes in Portland on Sunday. I had been contemplating the Grand Classic at Costco, but Lowes had the 12 month no interest deal going, and they had the natural gas model on hand, ready to take home. So I dropped $1149 plus $90 for the rotisserie, but I researched both, and while I believe both grills are "parts-made" in China and assembled here, I think Jenn-Air's customer support is better. This thing is huge, as it took 4 of us just to get it out of my truck down to the ground. At 320 pounds, it's not going anywhere!
First night we grilled 2 inch steaks, burgers for the kids. I decided to try the little smoker tray. While I admit it's a poor man's smoker, it did add some hickory smell and taste.
Time will be the ultimate judge of my Jenn-Air, but man, the thing is beautiful, and it grills nice and slow and with no flare-ups yet. Tonight: whole chicken on the rotiss, maybe mesquite.
Do you know if it's worth adding ceramic bricks to a gas grill aftermarket? I'm just wondering if it would distribute the heat and keep down the flare-ups better. BTW, mine has cast brass burners, not tubes, don't really know which is better.

I was just online on the Grilling Web Forum and someone asked that question......the answer was the warranty on the grill would be voided if briquets were added.

Dan,
I am considering buying the same Jen-air grill from lowes. I have seen some complaints against Jen-Air grills in forums that they do not get hot enough. Did find this issue? Can your grill hit 700 F to sear?
thanks

:( I just bought the 3 burner all stainless Jenn Air model from Lowe's - either 42 or 45,000 BTUs. I'm also having a problem with the grill heating up. After 15 minutes it is about 400 degrees. Takes about 25 minutes to cook hamburgers. So much for seared steaks! I'm going to try to get Lowe's to take it back.

Sharkey, I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in.
Jenn-Air grills are made by Nexgrill in China and marketed by Lowes. Lowes paid for a liscense to use the Jenn-Air name. Jenn-Air did not design the grill, make the specs, manufacture it, and they will not support it. You can't get parts from Jenn-Air and they won't honor the warranty on it.
Lowes sells them, but they won't support the grill either. For support you have to go to Nexgrill, which has a terrible reputation, but they may be getting better now.
I have heard mixed reviews of the Jenn-Air with some happy customers and others who aren't at all happy.
Personally, I don't like the way Lowes misleads it's customers into thinking this is a Jenn-Air grill. It's an inexpensive Chinese grill, but it's trading on Jenn-Air's name.

hello,
I am new here and have been reading your forums and am impressed with all of your site. i have purchased a jennair 64,000 btu ss grill from lowes. after reading it seem that the only downfall to this unit is the support and maybe this is improving? we live in way way south louisiana and am limited to grill shops where you can actually touch and feel what your are purchasing. i hope this is a good buy.. :)

I hope everything is OK with you down in South Louisiana. We have been saying alot of prayers about you folks down there.
I grew up in St. Francisville and went to LSU, so South Louisiana will always be a special place to me.
I now live in Florida, and know the benefit of having a good grill if your electricity is out for a spell.
It seems that the Jenn-airs have been pretty good grills. Most people seem to like them, and they seem to be a good value. The drawback seems to be customer support. Even if you have no problems and love the grill, the concern I would have is that you may not be able to get good replacement parts a couple of years down the road. If Nexgrill stops making that grill and replacement parts get scarce, what are you going to do? You don't want to have to replace your grill two years from now because a $25 burner has gone bad. If Lowes sticks with the Jenn-air grills, and Nexgrill continues to make them, you'll be OK. Time will tell.
You probably see alot of people singing the praises of Weber. It's because they make a solid grill that cooks great, won't rust, lasts forever, and parts (and accessories) are readily available. I believe Lowes only carries the Weber Genesis Silver A and B. I don't believe they carry the stainless Genesis line or the Summit line. Of course, even Weber could go out of business tomorrow, but not likely.
Hope this helps.
