OK.. I had a sirloin steak in the fridge from before the hurricane so I decided to cook it up. It was about 1 1/4" thick and 1.8lbs. so I cut it in half and made a meal out of it for my wife, daughter and I. It turned out excellent, so I thought I would share with you.

Ingredients:

1 1/4" thick sirloin steak
Steak rub (I used Durkee brand)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 - 1/2 cup horseradish

Horseradish cream sauce:
mix sour cream and horseradish in a bowl. serve drizzled over top the steak

Steak:
Coat the steak well (both sides) with your favorite steak rub and let sit on the counter for about 20 minutes. Preheat the grill to about medium high heat. slap the steak on the grill at a 45 degree angle for about 3 minutes. rotate 90 degrees and cook another 3-5 minutes. flip and do the same until around medium-rare/medium. Let sit for about 5 minutes, drizzle with cream sauce and enjoy.

We made these with baked fingerling potatos

Ingredients:

10 fingerling potatoes (or another small white potato)
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 shallot, chopped
1 cup olive oil
salt and pepper

Boil potatos until almost fork tender, then let cool. Once cool cut in half and place on baking sheet. cover with olive oil, s&p, shallots and garlic. mix together with hands to ensure good mixture. place in oven on broil for about 5 minutes or until lightly browned. serve with the steak and a little of the cream sauce and enjoy

mmmm... sounds delicious!

I got some NY strips last week at Winn-Dixie. They had them on sale for $5.77/lb. I got a bunch for the freezer. I don't usually get beef from WD, but I was there to pick up some spares, and these steaks looked really good.

They are too. I foodsavered some and kept some out. I'll try your horseradish sauce on one tonight.

My Thermapen arrived today, so that'll give me an excuse to play with my new toy ;)
