That just sounds wrong...

Anyway, I was at the store the other day and I saw a can labeled Butt Rub Peanuts. It intrigued me so I got some. They weren't very good, just very salty and with some hot spices.

So I started thinking about some of the different rubs I use and asked some questions over on the www.texasbbqrub.com forum. Here's what the guy who makes the Texas BBQ Rub came up with:

2 CUPS PLANTERS UNSALTED DRYROASTED PEANUTS
2 TABLESPOONS REAL BUTTER
3 TABLESPOONS TEXAS BBQ #1 RUB (or your favorite rub, although this one is really great - the right amount of sweet and not a lot of heat)

Preheat oven to 325. Put peanuts in bowl and microwave for 1 minute, stir and microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir in melted butter till nuts are well coated. Add the rub and stir till coated. Spread them out on Non-Stick pan or aluminun foil and bake for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and let them cool (if you can). :)

Thanks to Bill Cannon for the recipe.
