It will soon be time to buy a new one. My intitial thought was Weber, but Sears has some good looking Kenmores. My current grill is an earlier version of this one http://www.charbroil.com/grills/quickset_traditional.asp Some of the new Charbroils aren't bad.

I think it's time to step it up to stainless. The choices now make shopping much more difficult.

What do you guys have and/or recommend for under $1k?

Your initial thought was probably a good one. Hard to beat a Weber. If you get a Weber, be sure to check out Home Depot. The Webers sold at Home Depot have PCI grates.

Thanks. I just found and read the post in the product review section about the Kenmores, which confused me even more :-) That's the one thing about product reviews, they always seem to be 50/50 and you end up in the same position that you started!

Sears is having a sale plus no interest until 2005! http://www.sears.com

Check the Amazon Reviews on Webers...

I had a kenmore for years and had no problems with it. Albeit I didn't grill as often as I do now. If I were you, I would go for a Weber. You will consistantly find positive reviews for weber, while you may find negative ones about other Brands.

I have a Dynasty Built in. They sell actual movable units as well. I highly recommend it!

You might also want to consider spending a tad more and get a portable island. They can come with a sink, fridge, side burner, etc. You can get good ones for as little as $1500.

These guys seem to have everything from cheaper models to the more expensive. A friend of mine got his built in from them and is VERY happy with it.

Matt,

Kenmore Elite is the WAY TO GO!!!!! I have had one for 3.5 years and it is the BOMB!!! I liked it so much, I got a second one for my downstairs deck. The 6 burner model is ideal for slow cook ribs, rotisserie, etc. The heat zones are pretty even and you can get it above 500 degrees on Med. heat 4 burners. 6 burners on low can get over 400 degrees. I think you would enjoy it and I have cooked on and bought 6 Webers for others and would not trade my Elite for them. The Elite line is a bit more money, but Sears really takes care of you when you call their service. Hope this helps.

I've got a "grandhall" three burner.. that I bought 4 summers ago... I've replaced a couple igniters, flame tamers... and I have new grates... just have not swapped them yet... easy to get parts online
grill parts for grand hall brands (http://www.grandhall.com/)

these are sold at your local "samsclub" and range from $300-7000
most only carry the most popular in stock.. the rest have to be ordered...

I've been pleased with it over the years... if I had waited another couple of years.. I would have bought the 4 burner stainless model with side burner.. but I bought what I could afford at the time...

now they have a natural gas professional model now... complete with rotisserie, back roaster burner.. for even roasting... heavy duty grill cover and 5 burners for indirect cooking...plus side burner
